Louisiana hospitals are some of the most important institutions in the whole state. They contribute to the economic stability and viability of local communities as the mainstay for the entire healthcare community. Additionally, they provide job opportunities for the citizens of Louisiana — even during the recession. The 212 hospitals in the state provided 95,352 jobs with an annual payroll of over $3.62 billion in 2006. The Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) is a not-for-profit association that represents all types of hospitals and healthcare systems in Louisiana. The aim to support all of their members through advocacy, education, research, representation and communication. LHA focuses much of its efforts on advocacy and representation of its members.
